I'm struggling to see the point in remaining a member with them you pay a monthly membership to be able to book their cars, but in practice my bookings are not honoured, and cancelled consistently with astonishingly little notice. For our major trips it seems to happen EVERY TIME. This has forced us to considerably change our trips, or significantly amend how that trip was taken. A one-off issue here and there I can accept, but here's my last 7 recent hires as a family account: Trip: 05/11/22 - ZipCar cancelled on 04/11/22 Trip: 18/12/22 - honoured (single day trip) Trip: 26/12/22 - ZipCar cancelled on 22/12/22 Trip: 15/02/23 - honoured Trip: 25/04/23 - ZipCar cancelled on 23/12/23 Trip: 11/04/23 - honoured Trip: 06/05/23 - ZipCar cancelled 02/05/23 So if you're considering them for a booked car service, bear in mind that we have found they are more likely than not to cancel the booking with mere days (or day) notice. *updated figures" They used to be ok years ago, but recently have started to fall short of being seen as a dependable option. No Longer Dependable - 57% Cancellation Rate I have spent hundreds with this company and they are not looking after their members, just charging for random violations and adding a £15 admin fee. I really feel like Zipcar are scamming their members.

The latest ticket I received is almost 2 months late. Zipcar is trying to excuse the matter with me driving a certain type of car and therefore I was not allowed to park there 1) The sign clearly states "Zipcars live here" - I was driving a Zipcar 2) They did not notify me that I was not allowed to park there until weeks later meaning I had parked in the same bay on multiple occasions. I have requested to schedule a call on multiple occasions now as well as having requested to know what the "vehicle violation" is for, but they are refusing to help. The team is refusing to help me and keeps sending me templates and signing it off with "the Zipcar team". I was happy with them for the first time of my membership, however I have currently received 5 fines, 4 of them being for parking in a space saying "Zipcars live here, Zipcars only" (it does not get more clear than that) and a fine for a "vehicle violation" with no explanation about what it is for (after having requested an explanation 3 times now). I am currently having a nightmare with Zipcar - I warn anyone to not use this company. If you continue like this ZIPCAR you might find yourself or ZIPPED up and no customer to use your services. I just think the customer service aspect of the app needs to be addressed. I always made sure the cars were fuelled up for the next person to use. The service was convenient, I had used them many times, I never had a issue, I never treated their cars badly, I never even got a speeding ticket. I would suggest to stop using them before you are a victim of false accusations. They have disconnected my account, according to them this decision cannot be reversed and final. The complaints office refuse to say what I have been accused of doing, They refuse to discuss the false accusations. I have been Falsely accused of a security breach or a violation of some kind. Last person I spoke to could not see anything on my account to determine why my account was disconnected. The people that answer the calls that deal with Queries are helpful but can only help up to a point. As I read the reviews, it seems like a lot of people have experienced similar issues.Ĭareful you will be Falsely accused accused This is very disappointing, as Zicar is a good service in its own right, but the customer service is clearly lacking competence and borderline scamming. To top it all off, they added their fees on top of the price of the fine and charged me twice for these fees as well. After several back-and-forth exchanges, a lot of insisting on my side, and a lot of bad faith on theirs, they simply stopped answering my emails. Again, I had put the car at the exact spot where I picked it up and it matched the description of the parking spot on the app. Apparently, the spot where I parked the car was not the dedicated one, and since no one rented the car for several days, they accumulated the fines and charged me for it. I then receive an email with a parking ticket from Zipcar. Two months later, two charges of 95 pounds are taken from my account, without any heads up. After using it for a couple of hours, I put it back where I have picked it up. Here is my story: I rented a car with Zipcar to help my flatmate move. An hour ride for £200+ - the worst customer serviceĪn hour ride for £200+ The summary of this review is that Zipcar has terrible customer service and scams their customers.
